Gail V. Wells Day

Gail V. Wells was a Master Gardener and Tree Steward who founded Buffalo Freedom Gardens in 2020 to promote sustainable food sources on Buffalo’s East Side. She was a staunch advocate for eradicating food insecurity, empowering Black communities through urban gardening, and fostering cultural and educational programs.

This annual celebration honors Gail V. Wells, founder of Buffalo Freedom Gardens, and her lifelong work in food justice, education, and community empowerment.
